In Year 4 Birchfield pupils practise being much more independent, with less time being spent in the form room base, for they are required to travel to classrooms in many different locations in order to be taught by subject specialists. This also teaches the children to be better organised in packing books and stationery and in managing time too as they journey to their various destinations.

Year 4 pupils will also see a more varied prep timetable as they are encouraged to tackle reinforcement assignments based on their curriculum focuses in their lessons across the subject range. This is the year in which are pupils are adopting responsible and more mature attitudes to others and their academic work, and it is a joy to see their confidence growing through the terms.

Teaching staff work closely with Year 4 pupils to help develop positive and confident personalities and long-term pupil/teacher relationships are starting to blossom. These positive relationships will last throughout the children’s journey at Birchfield and form the bedrock of academic, artistic and sporting success during their time with us.
