In their first years at Birchfield School, the children join the Pre-Prep which provides a happy and caring setting for children aged between four and seven.  Staff spend time to get to know our children and families before they join us, working closely with parents to provide a happy start to school life.

Alongside our safe and secure environment a team of dedicated staff ensure each child receives an education which lays the foundation for the rest of their schooling.  They seek to bring out the best in every child, developing skills and talens to the full, whilst encouraging good manners and unselfish behaviour.

Our unique rural environment encourages imaginative and purposeful play, where children can have direct access to the large and varied school grounds.  Taking advantage of the fields and wooded areas that surround the School, children are introduced to the thrills and excitement of discovery, both inside and outside the classroom.  They have access to a designated Forest School area, where they develop their capacity to investigate, test and maintain curiosity in the world around them.  Alongside excellent teaching children receive specialist teaching in PE and music.  In addition, in Year 2 the curriculum is extended to include French and specialist boys' and girls' games.
